Hi everyone,
welcome to Top Travel Spot.
I grew up in Italy and moved to New York many years ago. I spend my life working as a music producer, as a geek and traveling, as much as I can and as often as I can.
I’ve been collecting travel images and experiences for the past ten years (before then I just didn’t think about shooting photos!). I decided to start using this site as a repository, it helps me to remember what I saw, ate, lived and experienced while traveling. You will soon realize there’s a pattern, an imaginary thread connecting most of the locations visited and my choices made while traveling. You won’t find much partying, techno raves on the beaches, noisy locations, crowded places. I live in New York and when I travel I tend to seek tranquillity, unspoiled beaches and natural beauty. There will be posts about major world cities, but even then I will make an effort remembering where I found little quiet spots to unwind after a busy day spend walking around.
I hope that you will find this site useful, if you have any questions, comments, please do not hesitate to use the comments area and the Contact page.
Thank you!
Federico Chieli

Maybe it’s the location, right in the middle of Mexico, a few day trips away from great cultural destinations, exotic adventures, amazing archeological sites and some of the best beaches in the world; maybe it’s the climate, never too cold nor too hot, with a decent excursion between day and night, a nice weather with the right mix of dry and humid that averages 311 sunny days per year; maybe it’s the incredible local cuisine, Oaxaca is the crossing point of diverse regional traditions, where the Central Valleys regions provide a variety of vegetables dishes, the Coast and Isthmus fish and shell fish, and the neighboring Papaloapan and Veracruz area year around availability of tropical fruit.
The city has all the appeal of a pretty colonial town, but mixes that with a thriving artist community, great museums, galleries and schools and a good mix of international tourists and expats.
Getting to Oaxaca: there are daily flights from Mexico City, a few US cities also offer direct flights.
Visit Duration : 3 or 4 days are enough to get an idea of the city, with more time you can incorporate day trips to nearby locations. I can easily spend a week to 10 days in Oaxaca without getting bored.
Restaurants Highlights:
Los Pacos, two locations, amazing fried chicken tacos, everything on the menu is delicious.
Casa Oaxaca, beautiful terrace, great central location and off course amazing food. Same name and owner as the sleek bohemian chic hotel Casa Oaxaca, the restaurant is not located on the same premises as the hotel.
Los Danzantes, fun and hip bar/restaurant, great cuisine and in house produced Mezcal.
Where to stay:
Casa Oaxaca , great boho chic vibe, private, central location
Camino Real, housed in a 1576 convent, amazing hotel, great food and a beautiful swimming pool.
